Godwin Obaje has been tipped to be a good ambassador of Wikki Tourist as he starts a new phase of his career in the Tunisian league.
Chairman of Wikki Tourist, Isah Matori shared his expectations as Obaje completed a move to Tunisian club, Etoile du Sahel.
I wish Godwin Obaje the best as he starts a new phase of his career,” Matori told Goal.
“My expectations from him is to not only be a good ambassador of Wikki Tourist but to Nigeria as a whole. I also wish and pray that he will raise the bar much more than his achievement at Wikki Tourist.”
Obaje attracted interest from Spartak Moscow following his impressive 2016 season, but Isah Matori explained why the move did not see the light of the day.
“Sincerely I can’t tell what really went wrong because we didn’t get a feed back at some point during talks and up until now the Russian club hasn’t gotten back to us,” he added.
“For me, the player’s interest comes first before any other. Before he left for Tunisia, we asked for the consent of the player and that of his family.
“If one is entrusted with someone’s career then one has to be extra careful on the kind of decisions taken. Decisions taken has to be motivated by what will develop the player and project him to a bright future.”
