Rivers PDP absolves self from APC crisis
The Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has denied any involvement in the crisis rocking some local government chapters of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
The Andoni chapter of the party was enmeshed in leadership crisis, with a faction of the party demanding the resignation of the state party chairman, Davis Ikanya. Ikanya is from Andoni Local Government Area of the state.
Some aggrieved members of the party had accused him of helping the PDP to win Andoni Local Government Area during the December 10 rerun election.
The publicity secretary of the PDP in Rivers State, Samuel Nwanosike, in a press briefing in Port Harcourt, yesterday, absolved the party of any involvement in the APC crisis.
He said the PDP does not need the APC chairman in Rivers State to win election in his area.
The spokesman said the APC chairman was not even popular in his local government area and wondered how such a person can win an election for another political party.
“PDP has no reason to talk about APC in Rivers State,” he said.
