Senate backs President Buhari, confirms two Supreme Court Judges
The Nigerian Senate has on October 18, Tuesday, supported the decision of President Muhammadu Buhari to appoint to new Supreme Court judges.
The two new judges are Hon Justice Ejembi Eko JCA and Hon. Justice Amina A. Augie JCA as Justices of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
Their appointment was confirmed by 38 senators present at today’s seating. Only one senator voted against the nomination.
The E-Voting system was for the first time used for voting on the confirmation of new Supreme Court Judges.
It will be recalled that on October 7, DSS operatives raided the residences of senior judges and arrested Justices Sylvester Ngwuta and John Okoro, both of the Supreme Court, as well as Justice Adeniyi Ademola of the Federal High Court in Abuja.
