Workers shut down ExxonMobil over plans to sack 145 Nigerians [VIDEO]
Employees of ExxonMobil have shut down the company’s office in Lagos over plans to sack 145 Nigerian workers.
The workers, who invaded the office on Thursday, December 15, are also protesting the company’s violation of expatriate quota.
The office was shut after a “dispute between the employees union — Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) — and Mobil management on initiating an arbitrary sack of Nigerian employees without conclusive negotiations,” an inside source told Newsmen.
“The plan is to withdraw our services totally from all our operating locations by midday tomorrow (15 Dec),” the statement read.
“The secretariat will keep you informed and updated as we arrive at that threshold. Injury to one is an injury to all!” it added.
